Em Movimento Project
About
"Em Movimento" is an itinerant dance project created to connect dancers across Brazil by celebrating local cultures and dance traditions. Through free classes and workshops in contemporary and urban dance styles, the project promotes the exchange of knowledge(s). Each edition aims to collaborate with local producers and dancers, highlighting the unique dance scenes of different regions of the country.
Edition 2023
In 2023, the initiative was launched in Rio de Janeiro, offering three weeks of free dance classes that focused on urban styles and contemporary dance with somatic approaches. Over 150 professional dancers and people from the community took part.
We invited 13 teachers from various neighbourhoods of the city to teach classes and share their knowledge(s) at Centro Coreográfico do Rio de Janeiro, one of Latin America's largest dance spaces.
"Em Movimento 2023" was produced by Baltazar Produção & Conteúdo and funded by the public funding program FOCA 2022 from the city of Rio de Janeiro.
